Youngsters on the Podium IslandStats.com The Bermuda Bicycle Association's Tokio Road Race saw cyclist battle from the start/finish line was at John Smith's Bay. A total of 133 participants across all categories took part in the racing.
Fast Forward Bicycle Works rider Arthur Pitcher edged out Madison-Digicel rider Dominique Mayho, Tokio rider Shannon Lawrence and Winners Edge rider Darren Glasford on his way to winning the Adult A category, while junior Tyler Smith outfoxed the Adults B participants by escaping off the front before the downhill finish and holding off the chasing pack.
Pitcher clocked a time of 1:45:40.3, Mayho crossed the line in 1:45:40.4, Lawrence recorded a time of 1:45:40.7 and Glasford finished in a time of 1:45:41.0.
Winners Edge rider Smith was clocked across the line with a time of 1:30:15.9, holding off Social Cycles rider Dennis Joell who finished second in 1:30:16.0 and Tokio rider Adam Hopkin finished third clocking 1:30:16.5.
Kenten Trott representing Social Cycles who only began competing one year ago has shown tremendous improvement on his way to winning the Adult C category clocking 1:17:49.4, Winners Edge rider Paulo Medeiros finished second in a time of 1:17:53.0 and his teammate Michael Thomas finished third with a time of 1:18:51.4.
The Women’s Open category had an exciting finish with Winners Edge rider Penelope Butterfield finishing first in a time of 1:22:15.9, Fast Forward Bicycle Works rider Wenda Roberts was second in 1:22:16.1 and Tokio rider Heather Cooper finished third with a time of 1:22:17.2.
Robin Horsfield recorded a time of 59:10.0 on his way to winning the Junior A category race, with Winners Edge rider Kaden Hopkins finishing second in a time of 59:17.5 and his teammate Jordan Dowling finished third clocking a time of 1:08:29.4
The Junior B category also saw an exciting finish with Social Cycles rider Nahje’ Smith able to hold off a challenge and take the checkered flag clocking 30:37.2, Fast Forward Bicycle Works rider Nicholas Pilgrim was second in 30:37.5 and Social Cycles rider Malik Joell was third clocking a time of 30:37.7.
Fast Forward Bicycle Works rider Alex Southern won the Junior C category race recording a time of 21:16.5, Ross Cooper representing Tokio finished second with a time of 21:36.6 and Rudi Hammond was third with a time of 22:03.2.
