The Sixth Race of the Bermuda Bicycle Association’s Flying Colors Fat Tire Massive Race Series was run at Fort Scaur. One hundred and one racers braved the gusty and for the Novice and Junior 13-15 Classes rainy conditions. The treacherous Fort Scaur and Heydon trust trails caused quite a few spills and at least two sprained hands. But all racers walked away more or less muddy and elated.
The big upset of the day saw Social Cycles Rider Ussef Eve finally overcome Billy Phillips for the win in Male Novice. The most challenging event was when Bicycle Works Neil De Ste Croix somehow missed the start of Male A by a minute and a half and still managed a respectable third place finish! The toughest battle saw Crimestoppers Manning Smith and Crimestoppers Eusebio King-Mills duke it out for 16 minutes in the Junior 12 and Under class for second and third spot. Smith stalked King-Mills till the last lap and then made his move past him. Unfortunately, he got tangled with a lapped rider only 200 yards from the finish. Both competitors were exhausted after the epic battle.
