New Jersey Institute of Technology Highlanders (NJIT) freshman Kai Legband was named the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association’s (CCSA) Swimmer of the Week after they captured the 2018 ECAC Winter Championship title recently.
Legband helped NJIT capture the ECAC Winter Championships title with five race victories.
Standing a 6-foot-1, Legband who represented Bermuda at the Carifta Swimming Championships finished with a time of 45.05 in the 100 yard Freestyle for the win. He also helped take the 400 yard Freestyle Relay in a time of 3:05.98, which was more than two seconds faster than the second-place team that clocked 3:08.26.
Legband grabbed a 20.65 for the 50 Yard Freestyle title and was a part of the first-place 200 yard Freestyle Relay team, where he posted an anchor time of 1:24.59. He finished the competition with another top time, in the 800 yard Freestyle with a time of 6:52.82.
