IslandStats.com
The first night of the Validus National Swimming National Championships started off very well at the National Aquatics Center.

The competition started with the distance events with the 400, 800 and 1500 meter Freestyle. Every swimmer that raced tonight swam Personal Best times.

In the 12 and Under 400 Freestyle, Pippa Charlson and Brandin Adkins had very strong Personal Best times, taking huge chunks off their previous best to win the Girls and Boys events. Charlson touched the wall in time of 5:14.95, while Adkins was clocked at 5:07.97.

In the Girls 800 Freestyle, Taylor White of Sharks Swim Club lowered her Personal Best and the 13-14 Age Group Record that she set 2 weeks ago at Schroders, she recorded a time of 9:47.19.

In the last event of the night, Brian Desmond put on a true display of fast swimming. At the 800-meter mark of his 1500 meter Freestyle race he set a new record in the 800 by lowering Ethan Daley’s record by over 12 seconds.

He continued on his pace to also break the 1500 meter Freestyle record that he already owned by 19 seconds, clocking a time of 17:25.62.
