A great start to CARIFTA Swimming Championships 2018 for the Bermuda team with 2 Gold, 1 Silver, 4 Bronze Medals, Plus two CARIFTA Records as well as 19 Individual Personal Best and 15 Finals appearances in the evening session.
Highlights of the morning session saw Elan Daley break Emma Harvey’s CARIFTA record in the 50m Backstroke clocking 31.62, while both Giada Dudley-Pun and Josephine Duerden went under the Bermuda Record time in making the 11-12 Girls 200m Breaststroke Final.
In the Evening, Elan Daley set a new CARIFTA Record competing in the 11-12 Girls 50m Backstroke touching the wall in a Gold Medal time of 31.52. Daley would also set a new CARIFTA record during the 11-12 Girls 100m Butterfly with a Gold Medal time of 1:05.98.
The 11-12 Girls 200m Breaststroke Bronze Medal went to Josephine Duerden who was clocked in a time of 3:01.31, while Elijah Daley won the 11-12 Boys Bronze Medal in the 200m Breaststroke with a time of 2:53.03.
The 13-14 Girls 50 Backstroke went to Bronze Medal went to Logan Watson-Brown who touched the wall in a time of 30.85, while Madelyn Moore captured the 15-17 Girls 50m Backstroke Silver Medal with a time of 30.90.
The 15-17 Girls 4x100m Freestyle Relay team of Moore, Skyler Powell, Gabriela Pitman and Logan Watson Brown won the Bronze Medal in a time of 4:04.32.
