The temperatures outside the Windsor Aquatic Centre was a chilly 34 degrees with snow flurries, but inside the Bermudian swimmers were quite at home as they amassed a total of 7 Medals, to add to their collection from yesterday as the 2nd annual WAC Spring Invitational Swim Meet in Windsor, Ontario, Canada continued.
Taylor White struck Gold in the 400m Freestyle, with an excellent swim of 5:21.94, as she cut 13 seconds from her previous Personal Best. She added a Silver in the 100m Freestyle, hitting the finish in 1:12.54 and a Bronze in the 50m Backstroke with a new best time of 39.97. But it was her morning swim in the 400 Individual Medley which was the most noteworthy. Opting to swim in the Senior Age Group, in order to get better competition, she improved on her previous best time by 13 seconds as she dipped under 6 minutes with a time of 5:58.73. Earning a Bronze Medal in the event only added to the occasion.
Gabby Pitman swam in three finals, the 50m Butterfly with an 8th place finish, a 10th place in the 50m Backstroke and a 4th in the 100m Freestyle in a time of 1:07.78.
Skyler Powell won a Silver Medal in the 400m Individual Medley, with a very determined effort, as she stopped the clock in 5:46.20. She next competed in the 100m Freestyle, capturing the Bronze Medal with a time of 1:07.64.
Holly Bruton was the busiest swimmer for Bermuda, contesting 5 Finals in the evening. She took the Bronze Medal in the 200m Backstroke in a time of 2:46.93, scored two 4th place finishes in the 100m and 200m Breaststrokes, along with two 8th place finishes in the 50m Backstroke and 100m Freestyle.
All four swimmers are back in the water tomorrow for the final day of competition.
