At the conclusion of Day Two of the Carifta Swimming Championships in Martinique, Bermuda had picked up another 2 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and broke 2 more Carifta Records.
Emma Harvey rewrote the Carifta Record books yet again this time breaking her own 13-14 Women’s 50m Butterfly Record clocking a time of 28.44. Shannon Hassell captured a Silver Medal when she finished second in the 15-17 Women’s 100m Backstroke Final clocking a time of 1:08.62, then Harvey picked up her second Medal and Bermuda’s third of the day when she finished second in the 13-14 Women’s 100m Backstroke Final clocking a time of 1:06.60. Harvey made it another 2 Gold Medal Day when she swam to victory in the 11-14 Women’s 400m Individual Medley clocking a time of 5:21.72.
Logan Watson Brown finished 4th in the 11-12 Women’s 200m Freestyle Final touching the wall in a time of 2:19.88. Watson-Brown then finished 7th competing in the 11-12 Women’s 100m Backstroke Final clocking a time of 1:17.64.
Jesse Washington also finished 4th during the 15-17 Men’s 200m Freestyle Final recording a time of 1:58.03, while Brian Desmond finished 7th in the 11-12 Men’s 200m Freestyle Final clocking 2:17.99.
Madelyn Moore clocked a time of 29.28 during the 15-17 Women’s 50m Butterfly that saw her finish 4th, while Washington finished 8th competing in the 15-17 Men’s Butterfly Final recording a time of 26.16.
Jack Harvey finished 6th competing in the 11-12 Men’s 100m Backstroke Final clocking a time of 1:13.06.
Earlier during the Preliminaries Emma Harvey rewrote the Carifta Record books yet again this time breaking the 13-14 Women’s 50m Butterfly Record clocking a time of 28.45 to move into yet another Final a favorite.
Logan Watson-Brown will enter the 11-12 Women’s 200m Freestyle Final as the hot favorite after she recorded the fastest Preliminary time of 2:17.97. Jesse Washington will compete in the 15-17 Men’s 200m Freestyle Final after touching the wall with the 6th fastest Preliminary time of 2:00.14.
Brian Desmond clocked the 8th fastest 11-12 Men’s 200m Freestyle Preliminary time of 2:18.93 taking a spot in the final, while Madelyn Moore reached the 15-17 Women’s 50m Butterfly final when she finished 4th in the Preliminaries with a time of 29.68.
Washington will enter the 15-17 Men’s 50m Butterfly Final with the 8th fastest qualifying time of 26.19.
Bermuda will be represented by two swimmers in the 15-17 Women’s 100m Backstroke Final, Shannon Hassell clocked the fastest Preliminary time of 1:08.95, while Moore clocked the 5th fastest time of 1:10.48.
Emma Harvey will also go into the 13-14 Women’s 100m Backstroke as the favorite after clocking the fastest qualifying time of 1:07.58, while Waston-Brown will compete in the 11-12 Women’s 100m Backstroke Final after recording the sixth fastest time of 1:16.09 during the Preliminaries. Jack Harvey clocked a time of 1:12.59 on his way to advancing to the 11-12 Men’s 100m Backstroke Final with the 7th fastest time.
During the 15-17 Women’s 200m Freestyle Preliminaries Esposito finished 10th clocking a time of 2:13.64, while Moore finished 17th clocking 2:18.94.
Jessica Bruton finished 17th during the11-12 Men’s 200m Freestyle Preliminaries touching the wall in a time of 2:26.90, while Jack Harvey finished 12th in the 11-12 Men’s 200m Freestyle Preliminaries with a time of 2:22.79, Vanessa Esposito finished with the 10th fastest 15-17 Women’s 50m Butterfly Preliminary time of 30.32.
Watson-Brown clocked 32.57 to finish 10th during the 11-12 Women’s 50m Butterfly Preliminaries, while Alyson Scherer finished 18th clocking 34.89. Sam Williamson finished 17th with a time of 34.17 competing in the 11-12 Men’s 50m Butterfly, while Jack Harvey finished 19th clocking 34.17.
Bruton clocked 1:20.00 on her way to the 14th fastest 11-12 Women’s 100m Backstroke time, while Williamson finished 13th in the 11-12 Men’s 100m Backstroke Preliminaries with a time of 1:18.74.
