Day Five was the Final Day of the 20th Caribbean Island Swimming Championships with Bermuda Swimmers wrapping up the competition with a total of 23 Medals in Barbados.
Shannon Hassell finished 7th in the 13-14 Girls 100m Freestyle Final with a time of 1:02.20. Jesse Washington captured the Gold Medal and set a New Bermuda Record on his way to a 13-14 Boys 100m Freestyle Final time of 53:90.
Rebecca Heyliger won the Silver Medal in the Girls 18 & Over 100m Freestyle with a time of 59.71 which was also a CAC B time. Ashley Irby clocked 1:02.48 during the 11-12 Girls 100m Freestyle Final which was good enough for the Silver Medal.
Heyliger won her second Silver Medal of the night when she finished second in the Girls 18 & Over 50m Butterfly with a time of 29.14 which was also a new National Record. Washington clocked 26.62 on his way to winning the 13-14 Boys 50m Butterfly Silver Medal. Washington swam 26.50 in the heats for new Bermuda Age Group National Record.
Others competing in Finals included Ethan Daley who finished 4th in the 11-12 Boys 50m Butterfly with a time of 30.54, Irby finished 7th in the 11-12 Girls 50m Butterfly Final touching the wall in a time of 32.02.
Ashley Yearwood’s time of 29.95 saw her finish 5th in the 18 & Over Girls 50 Butterfly, Daley finished in 5th place during the 11-12 Boys 100m Freestyle Final with a time of 1.01.98 and Hassell finished 7th with a time of 1.02.20 during the 13-14 Girls 100m Freestyle Final.
Preliminaries
Shannon Hassell qualified for the 13-14 Girls 100m Freestyle Final, when she finished 7th clocking a time 1:02.69. Jesse Washington recorded the fastest 13-14 Boys 100m Freestyle time of 54.54.
During the 15-17 Boys 100m Freestyle Preliminaries, Philip Hagen finished 13th with a time of 57.28. Ashley Irby clocked 1:03.58 which was the fastest 11-12 Girls 100m Freestyle time heading into the Final.
Ethan Daley qualified for the 11-12 Boys 100m Freestyle Final after finishing 6th with a time of 1:01.59. Washington clocked 26.50 which was also the fastest time in the 13-14 Boys 50m Butterfly.
Julian Fletcher finished 14th in the Boy’s 18 & Over 50m Butterfly clocking a time of 27.32, Irby will also compete in the 11-12 Girls 50m Butterfly Final clocking the 7th fastest time of 32.06.
Daley qualified for the 11-12 Boys 50m Butterfly Final after finishing 4th with a time of 30.46.
