4 Medals on Day One CISC 2014 Championships

Shannon Hassell and Julian Fletcher both won Gold Medals on Day One of the The 20th Caribbean Island Swimming Championships that got underway in Barbados. Lisa Blackburn captured a Bronze Medal as well as Ethan Daley.

Hassell captured Gold during the 13-14 Girls 100m Backstroke, while Fletcher won Gold in the Boys Open 100m Breaststroke.

Blackburn’s Silver Medal came during the Girls Open 100m Breaststroke and Daley's was during the 11-12 Boys 100m Backstroke .

During the Preliminary Heats on Day One that saw Shannon Hassell swim first and race to the top seed in the 13-14 Girls 100m Backstroke with a time of 1:09.78.

Ashley Irby was next up and swam a strong Personal Best time of 1:15.03 which has her seeded 4th for the 11-12 Girls 100m Backstroke Finals.

Ethan Daley shaved a second off his Personal Best to swim the 11-12 Boys 100m Backstroke in a time of 1:11.53 and set him up 3rd for the Finals.

Philip Hagen just missed his Personal Best to place 11th in the 15-17 Boys 100m Breaststroke heats while Lisa Blackburn and Julian Fletcher had their events move directly to Finals.

Hassell lowered her 13-14 Girls 50m Freestyle best time to 28.64 which put her in 6th place for the Finals. Jesse Washington finished in 25.66 during the 13-14 Boys 50m Freestyle where he just edged into the finals in 8th place with a really fast field of swimmers.

For the 11-12 Age Groups Irby swam 29.16 to place her in 3rd and Ethan Daley swam 28.34 which him into Finals in 8th place.

Hagen finished off the Heats competing in the 15-17 Boys 200 IM where he finished 9th in a time of 2:27.36.
