BASA Release Long Course Records Update

The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association released the updated Long Course Meter Records, during the Validus Bermuda National Championships held June 5th – 8th, at the National Sports Center.

Today we bring you the New Record Holders in the Boys 11-12, Girls 13-14 and Boys 15-16 Age Groups.

11 and 12 Boys

Nicholas Brando is the new 100m Backstroke record holder after touching the wall in a time of 1:11.07, breaking Matthew Hammond’s record of 1:12.78 set on August 1st, 1993

Brett Smith now holds the 200m Backstroke record with a time of 2:37.49, breaking Nicholas Brando’s record of 2:40.78 set on May 18th, 2014

13 and 14 Girls

Chloe Mazurek set a new 800m Freestyle record with a time of 10:06.40, breaking Eleanor Gardner’s record of 10:09.07 set on May 6th, 2005

Madelyn Moore broke her own 100m Freestyle record time of 59.55 when she touched the wall in a time of 59.47. Moore set a new 50m Butterfly record of 30.10, breaking Ashley Yearwood’s record of 0:30.36 set on April 16th, 2009, she then lowered the time in the 50m Butterfly Final to 29.30.

During the 50m Backstroke Preliminaries Moore clocked 31.69, breaking her own record of 0:32.38 set on June 22nd, 2013, she then swam 31.44 in the Final.

15 and 16 Boys

Tyler Mazurek set a new 400m Freestyle record with a time of 4:19.57, breaking Jason Mastalir’s record of 4:26.21 set on May 4th, 2007, Mazurek then set a new 400 Individual Medley record with a time of 4:57.09, breaking Nicholas Patterson’s record of 5:05.72 set on April 24th, 2011.

Jesse Washington broke Jason Mastalir’s 200m Freestyle record time of 2:01.50 set on July 21st, 2007, when he touched the wall in a time of 2:00.03. Washington set a new 50 Butterfly record with a time of 26.71, breaking Benedict Parfit’s record of 0:26.99 set on May 1st, 2011.
