Priyanka Priydrshni IslandStats.com Controversy ended the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association’s First Ever Long Course National Championships held at the National Sports Center.
It all came during the Girls 13 & Over 50m Breaststroke Preliminaries, were Priyanka Priydrshni from India was clocked at 30.88. Following the event Priydrshni exited the pool and went straight into the changing room, with onlookers still stunned at the time.
Onlookers believed that it was not Priydrshni, but her teammate Agnishwar Jayaprakash. The strange thing is that Jayaprakash is a twenty-three year old man.
With so much talk going around the Pool, officials attempted to identify the identity of the person that took part in the event, but when they entered the changing area Priydrshni claimed she had slipped and fell and had injured herself.
What the officials did find was shaving cream and a razor and a now clean shaved Jayaprakash.
With so much confusion and speculation an official Disqualification could not be issued, as there was no proof that Priydrshni did not take part in the race.
With the time Priydrshni was just over one second behind the United States of Americas Record holder Jessica Hardy who clocked 29.80.
The official statement from the Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association President Nick Strong stated, “We have no proof that Priydrshni did not swim the race, but we have sent a note to FINA the World Governing Body for Swimming with our concerns and that is where it will be.”
