A total of 24 Records were set during the 2014 Schroders Spring Swimming Championships that took place at the BASA Pool.
Madelyn Moore set 8 new Records in the Girls 13-14 Age Group, her first came in the 50m Freestyle Preliminaries when she clocked 26.78, lowering her previous record of 26.85, she went even lower in the Final touching the wall in 26.62. With a time of 58.73 during the 100m Freestyle Finals lowering her own record of 59.46 and then in the 200m Freestyle Final Moore took the record from her team mate Shannon Hassell from 2:10.91 to 2:10.30. During the 50m Butterfly Final, Moore touched the wall in a time of 29.89 lowering her own record of 30.43, she then lowered the 50m Backstroke record time during the Final beating the record of 31.22 touching the wall in 30.39. In the 100m Backstroke Final Moore took another record from Shannon Hassell of 1:07.71 to 1:07.01 and finally in the 200m Backstroke Final she took the record from Rebecca Sharpe set in December 2005 from 2:27.37 to 2:25.88.
Emma Harvey set 6 new Girls 11-12 Age Group records, her first came in the 100m IM Preliminaries she lowered her own record from 1:14.26 to 1:14.04 and then in the 100m IM Final she lowered her record again to 1:10.65. Harvey set a new 200m IM record during the Final, she lowered her record from 2:37.73 to 2:34.07, she also set a new 50m Butterfly record during the Preliminaries she lowered her own record from 30.92 to 30.57, during the 100m Butterfly Final she lowered her time set in February from 1:09.97 to 1:08.78 and then in the 200m Backstroke she took the record from Maddie Moore from 2:36.17 to 2:33.08.
Two new records were set by Jesse Washington in the Boys 13-14 Age Group, his first came in the 50m Butterfly Finals he lowered his own record from 27.09 to 27.07, during the 100m Freestyle Final he tied his own record of 53.98 and then in the 100m Backstroke Final he lowered his own record from 1:03.16 to 1:02.89.
Ashley Irby also set two New records during the Girls 11-12 Age Group, during the 800m Freestyle Final she broke Nicole Yearwoods record of 10:31.07 set back in 2004 in a time of 10:14.77 and then in the 200m Freestyle Final she broke Ashley Yearwood’s record of 2:17.43 to 2:16.89.
Lisa Blackburn set a new Bermuda National and BASA Pool record during the Women’s 50m Breaststroke Final from 32.96 to 32.88. The pool record was from 2002 and the time was just over 1 tenth from qualifying her for this summer’s Commonwealth Games.
Roy-Allan Burch set two new Bermuda National Records, his first was during the 50m Backstroke Final he lowered his own record from 26.90 to 26.56 and the in the 50m Freestyle Finals he lowered his record from Italy of 22.41 to 22.24.
Nick Brando recorded the last New record during the Boys 11-12 Age Group 200 Backstroke Final, taking the record from Roy-Allan Burch which was set back in 1998 of 2:35.48 to 2:34.82.
