The Bermuda Amateur Swimming Association have updated the Short Course Meter records, following the Provincial Invitational P1 and P2 meet in Montreal, along with the Mailboxes Unlimited Winter Age Group Championships.
During the Provincial Invitational P1 and P2 Meet in Montreal, Quebec, Canada Vanessa Esposito broke four 15 and 16 Girls Records.
Esposito set a 200m Individual Medley record of 2:31.49, during the Preliminaries, breaking her own record of 2:33.80 set on November 2nd, 2013. Esposito then broke the 50m Butterfly record of 30.63 set by Lara Loescher’s on May 12th, 2007, when she touched the wall clocking 30.57, during the Preliminaries.
Esposito came back and broke her own 50m Butterfly record when she finished the Final clocking 29.77 and she then broke her own 200m Individual Medley record when she touched the wall in the Final clocking a time of 2:31.28.
A total of Six Records were broken during the Mailboxes Unlimited Winter Age Group Championships at the BASA Pool, Keagan Woolley broke four records, while Emma Harvey and Jesse Washington also broke a record each.
During the 9 and 10 Boys race Woolley broke a record that previously stood for 25 years during the 200m Freestyle when he touched the wall in a time of 2:33.81, breaking Stephen Fahy’s record of 2:34.92 set on November 1st, 1988.
Woolley then set a new 50m Backstroke record of 36.34, breaking Olympic swimmer Roy-Allan Burch’s record of 36.75 set on November 1st, 1996. Woolley set a new 100m Freestyle record touching the wall in a time of 1:08.43, breaking Nicholas Thomson’s record of 1:08.90 set on July 13th, 2002.
Woolley next set a new 100m Backstroke record of 1:18.18, breaking his own record of 1:18.95 set on November 9th, 2013.
Harvey set a new 11 and 12 Girls 200m Butterfly record with a time of 2:46.65, breaking Ashley Yearwood’s record of 2:47.76 set in 2007. Washington set a new 13 and 14 Boys 200m Butterfly record touching the wall in a time of 2:19.18, breaking Nicholas Patterson’s record of 2:27.69 set on April 9th, 2009
