Following the Harbour Winter Meet, National Coach and Sharks Head Coach noted, “The Harbor Winter meet saw some strong swims for this point in the season. Many of the swimmers spent their school break in an intensive training camp during their morning with some swimmers doing double sessions every day for the week. The swims were encouraging considering how tired many of the swimmers were this week. The hard work will start to show results by the time Winter age groups’ comes around at the end of the month. Aaron Rego was a highlight for the meet with two personal best. His 100 Butterfly saw him lower his time by another second from the last meet and inch him closer to his second qualifier for Carifta.”
'With Harbour swimmers in hard training along with the rest of the clubs, qualification for major overseas meets was not expected across the older age groups with National Winter Championships only 3 weeks away. The juniors however were expected to excel in the development meet and a flurry of 50 personal best times were recorded with Rhys Insley gaining a B standard, the required level to graduate into the full meets.
Harbour's seniors were in action swimming a mixture of main and new events, resulting in 65 personal best times. Emma Harvey recorded an age-group National Record in the 400 IM, which is most encouraging during this period of hard training. Head coach, Shona Palmer commented 'The coaching team at Harbour are very pleased with the performances to date, and are looking forward to some impressive swims in Winter Age Groups when the senior squad will be rested and ready to swim fast. Our use of log books and state of the art video analysis, coupled with rigorous physical preparation is starting to pay dividends for the swimmers, and our coaching staff is working hard to further improve the level of our team.”
