Roy Allan Burch has advanced to the Men’s Open 50m Freestyle Finals during the British Gas Swimming Championships.
The Championships which are being held at the London Aquatics Center the home of the 2012 Olympic Games Swimming Competitions is being used as Selection Trials for the Great Britain team.
Burch recorded the sixth fastest time overall clocking 22.88, some .19 of a second off the Bermuda Record he set back on July 29th, 2011 during the 14th FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China where he clocked 22.69.
Burch’s coach Steve Castree told Bermuda National Coach Ben Smith, “Burch made some mistakes in his Heat, firstly he was he was slow out of the blocks this is merely down to the fact that he is still in training mode, but the encouraging thing is that he is almost at his fastest time and it’s still early.”
