While most Bermudians, residents and visitors are putting more cloths on because of the chilly cool breeze, dedicated young swimmers are braving the conditions during a twelve-day Swimming Camp at the BASA Pool.
National coach Ben Smith said, “These athletes are dedicated to the sport, they know that hard work pays off, we are using this training camp as part of the preparation for the 2012 Carifta Games.”
“The first week if the camp we had many of our college students and elite swimmers in the camp, they got the chance to intermingle with the youngster and talk about their experiences,” continued Smith.
Smith went on to say, “We have a few athletes just on the outside of Olympic Times that we are hoping with the training they will do with their clubs overseas they will soon reach the qualifying times.”
“2012 is looking promising for swimming as I am hoping several of the athletes reach their potential, because they have worked very hard and it would only show them that they can achieve all their goals if they just continue to work at it,” concluded Smith.
