The Men’s Defending Champions Jarryd Dillas and Damian Palanyandi and the defending Ladies Champions, Katrin Burnie and Linda Down retained their Bermuda Four-Ball Championships titles at the Port Royal Golf Course.
A Bermuda Golf Association spokesperson said, “The early morning start was delayed by three hours as the winds this morning were in the vicinity of 30 – 40 gusting to 50mph with torrential rain.”
“However, by 10.30am the winds abated and the rain eased off allowing the tournament to get underway. However, shortly afterwards, despite the lack of rain, the winds picked up with vengeance and the tournament was completed very challenging conditions with westerly winds of 30 – 38mph. The field should be commended for completing the round under such challenging conditions, ” concluded the spokesperson.
Dillas and Palanyandi started the day two strokes ahead of Fraser Hunt and Spencer Wideman but when it was all said and done, they came off the course winning by 7 strokes after a second and final round 2-over par 73 to finish at Even Par, Hunt and Wideman shot a second round 7-over par 78 to finish at 7-over for the tournament and Gary Burnet and Roderick Forrest finished third at 9-over par.
Burnie and Down also went into the day leading Ann Symonds and Tracy Burgess by two strokes and they would shoot a final round 12-over par 83 to finish with a winning score of 15-over par, Symonds and Burgess finished second at 19-over par and Anne O’Neill and Irene Foti finished third at 26-over par.
The Men’s Seniors Division was won by Craig Christensen and Jose Gerardo who finished with a 12-over par.
