PGA Tour rookie Scottie Scheffler fired a 9-under-par 62 and holds a one-shot lead after the first round of the Bermuda Championship, at the Port Royal Golf Course.
Wes Roach is in second place at 8-under, Scheffler was a two-time winner on the second-tier Korn Ferry Tour last season, and he earned his PGA Tour card by topping that circuit's regular-season points list.
The Bermudians in the field sees Michael Sims shot a 1-over par 72 and is T85th, while Daniel Augustus is T92nd after he carded a 2-over par 73. Jarryd Dillas is T108th after he recorded a first round score of 5-over 76, Kenny Leseur shot an opening round of 6-over par 77 and is T114th and Dwayne Pearman shot 9-over par 80 to finish the day 120th.
Dillas and Leseur are the amateurs competing in this week’s Bermuda Championship.
