Elizabeth Parsons and her Wagner College Women's Golf teammates were predicted to finish in a tie for fourth place, along with LIU Brooklyn, as the 2018 Northeast Conference (NEC) Preseason Poll.
The coaches selected Fairleigh Dickinson as the preseason favorite as the Knights received four first-place votes. Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut, who were tabbed second and third in the poll, each received a first-place vote while finishing in front of both Wagner and LIU Brooklyn.
Saint Francis U and St. Francis Brooklyn followed behind in sixth and seventh place, respectively, in the seven-team poll.
The Seahawks, who are expected to be led by junior Pascalle Tego, who is considered one of the top talents in the circuit. Tego is coming off a sophomore campaign in which she earned a spot on the 2017 All-NEC First-Team, which followed her 2016 All-NEC Second Team selection as a freshman.
Wagner also returns an accomplished and experienced player in Kyra Alexander, who is looking to push her game to the next level as a senior. Also back, after earning valuable experience as a freshman in 2016-17, is sophomore Parsons.
The Seahawks, under the direction of first-year head coach Morgan Kauffman, also features a trio of freshmen in Amelia Bjuro, Elise Keane, and Georgia Naples, each of whom began the adjustment to Division I collegiate golf in the fall season.
