Day Three of the 30th World Amateur Team Championship (WATC) saw the Team Bermuda fall two places in the Standings to T49th at 22-over par 152.
Jarryd Dillas in Mexico
Jarryd Dillas now leads the Bermuda team, he is T112th after his round of 2-over par 73 and he is 10-over after 3 Rounds, Mark Phillips is at 17-over for the tournament and he is T144th overall, this after posting a third round of 11-over par 82. Eric West is 17-over as well after he shot a third round 9-over par 79.
West was very unfortunate in missing a Birdie putt on #8 his penultimate hole which would have returned him to even par said, “I was pleased with my round and acknowledge the incredible golf that the lead players are demonstrating in shooting low sub par rounds.”
After hitting his Tee shot into a water hazard on the 200 yard par 3, 1st hole and making a Double Bogey, Dillas came back strong with four Birdies on 2, 8,11 & 17. After the round Dillas commented, “The score may have been better, but it was a real grind out there, hard work all the way round. I felt my swing was a bit off today and just tried to keep the ball in play and limit the damage'.
Phillips who has looked solid all week got off to a bad start with two Double Bogey’s and a Bogey in the first three holes. But unlike the first two rounds where he was able to bounce back, today it didn't happen. Phillips said after the round simply, 'I just couldn't get it together today!'
West was unable to repeat the success of yesterday. He commented, 'I didn't play badly, but just a few loose shots off the tee caused me to lose some balls coupled with a few three putts and it doesn't take much to run up a number out here'.
