The conditions were very challenging at Port Royal for the 1st round of the Bermuda Stroke Play Championships but that didn’t stop the players from shooting some good scores.
In the Men’s Championship Division, Jarryd Dillas is co-leading the field with Richard Neame after shooting 3-over par 74, followed closely by the defending champion Mark Phillips, Jevon Roberts and Will Haddrell who all carded a 5-over par 76.
There is a three way tie atop of the Women’s Leaderboard, with Kathy Lloyd-Hines, Linda Down and Elizabeth Parsons all shooting 12-over par 83’s at the Port Royal Golf Course.
Lloyd- Hines’ scorecard had 1 Birdie, 8 Pars, 6 Bogey’s, 2 Double Bogey’s and 1 Triple Bogey, while Down recorded a 1 Birdie, 9 Pars, 4 Bogey’s, 3 Double Bogey’s and 1 Triple Bogey and Parsons shot 1 Birdie, 5 Pars, 11 Bogey’s and 1 Double Bogey.
In the Senior Men’s Flight the 1st round leader is a local Port Royal player, Ian Page who managed to put some distance between his competition with a 6-over par 77, which is 3 shots ahead of second place contender, Terry Mullan.
It was an exciting day for Gary Brangman who is in third place after he managed a hole in one on hole #13, a hole where most players struggle to find the green!!
