Sims T9th in The eGolf Tour's Championship

IslandStats.com
After spending all day Saturday and Sunday working in a local pro shop, Gordon Strother debated withdrawing from this week’s Championship at Woodside Plantation, feeling as though he wasn’t as well prepared as he wanted to be. A last-second decision to compete looks to have been a wise choice, as the former Auburn University golfer carded nine birdies and an eagle in Wednesday’s opening round en route to a course-record-setting 61, and a stunning four-shot lead through 18 holes of play.

The Championship at Woodside Plantation is the 17th event of the 2012 eGolf Tour season and is being contested this week at the Rees Jones-designed Wisteria Course at Woodside Plantation Country Club in Aiken, SC.

Michael Sims shot an opening round 4-under par 68 to end the day T9th seven strokes off the leader.

Sims’ round consist of five Birdies, twelve Pars and one Bogey.

Sims started out on the Front Nine with a Par followed by a Birdie, he then recorded three consecutive Pars before back to back Birdies move him to 3-under par, Sims closed out the first nine with back to back Pars.

On the Back Nine, Sims began with three consecutive Pars, before a Birdie, Par, Birdie followed on the next three holes. Sims then closed out his round with a Bogey and back to back Pars.
