eGolf Tour leading money winner Drew Weaver spent the first round of the eGolf Tours eighth annual Southern Open in what he referred to as one of the best pairings Ive ever seen.
Playing alongside Tommy Gibson and Mikel Martinson, Weaver paced the groups Birdie barrage with nine of his own en route to a first-round 62 and the tournaments Day One lead.
The Southern Open is the 15th event of the 2012 eGolf Tour season, and is being contested this week at both The Club at Irish Creek in Kannapolis, NC and the Country Club of Salisbury in Salisbury, NC.
Michael Sims shot an Opening Round Even Par 71 to finish the Day T91st nine strokes off the lead.
Sims ended his round shooting 2 Birdies, 14 Pars and 2 Bogeys.
Sims started out on the Front Nine with four consecutive Pars, before a Birdie on the par four fifth hole saw Sims move to 1-under par, but a Bogey on the very next hole saw Sims move back to Even Par, Sims closed out his Front Nine with three consecutive Pars to make the turn at Even Par.
On the Back Nine Sims started out with a Birdie on the par four tenth, this was followed by seven consecutive Pars, but a Bogey on the par three eighteenth saw Sims close out at Even Par.
