Pearman Leads BPGA Stroke Play Championships

Leader Dwayne Pearman
IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Professional Golf Association Stroke Play Championships got underway at the Tuckers Point Golf Club in wet and windy conditions, although good for the course and the island, not so good for low scores.

Defending Champion Dwayne Pearman will take a one stroke lead into the second round after he shot a First Round 1-over par 71. Pearman was his always consistent self with a round of 2 Birdies and 3 Bogies. Pearman managed to avoid the big numbers which plagued many a players' round today.

Chaka Desilva is one stroke back in second place after his opening round of 2-over par 72. Had it not been for an unfortunate Triple Bogey on 18 he could have been the well-deserved leader. With an Eagle and 3 Birdies, Desilva was looking comfortable like breaking par until the lack of concentration cost him in the end.

In third place is Daniel Augustus who shot an opening round of 4-over par 74, Augustus fell behind early with Bogeys on the first and second holes and scrambled well enough to finish, while Bobby MacRonald’s opening round of 5-over par sees him in fourth place. Paul Adams and Dwayne Gibson are t5th after opening rounds of 77.
