In the opening round of the eGolf Tours River Run Classic, Canadian Cam Burke birdied six of his last seven holes en route to a stunning 10-under 62 to grab the un-official overnight lead through day one of the three-round event. Nine players were unable to finish their opening rounds after darkness set in at 7:55 PM.
The River Run Classic is the fifth of 24 scheduled events on the 2012 eGolf Tour schedule, and is being contested this week at River Run Country Club in Davidson, NC. The event is the first of 10 scheduled 54-hole events on the tours 2012 schedule.
Michael Sims ended four shots back of Burke, after he shot an opening round of 1-under par 71.
Sims, will be looking to continue his fine form that he has started the season with, he got off to a wonderful start with back to back Birdies on the tenth and eleventh as he started his round on the Back Nine. Following four consecutive Pars, Sims then recorded another Birdie on the sixteenth, before closing out his first nine hole with back to back Bogeys to make the turn 1-under.
On the Front Nine Sims started with a Par, before shooting a Birdie on the par 5 second, this was followed by three consecutive Pars, before he had another Birdie on the par 5 sixth, Sims gave two strokes back when he had a Double Bogey on the very next hole, he closed out his round with back to back Pars.
