Bermuda's Correia Returns With FEI Silver Medal

IslandStats.com
Philip Correia who had the performance of a life time when he stood on the podium to receive the Silver Medal at the 2016 FEI WORLD JUMPING FINALS in Rabat Morocco arrived back in Bermuda to a hero’s welcome from family, friends and Bermuda Equestrian Federation Officials.

Correia like many others compete on a regular basis at the National Equestrian Center said, “Ironically the horse I got was one of the horses no one wanted, because of his age, but he performed very well.”

Correia was asked if he was as aggressive as he is with his local horse Emmerson, but he said, “With this 17‐year‐old chestnut horse Kilt Bessier I had to be clever, because it was four days of competition and I only really asked him for more on the final day in the Jump Off.”

Correia achieved Clear Rounds during all four days of competition. In an exciting Final Jump Off, Correia narrowly missed the Gold Medal which was won by Lebanon’s rider Marek Maitalo who clocked a slightly faster time. Bronze winner was Morocco’s rider Yassine Bennani.
