The National Equestrian Center on Vesey Street was the scene for Day Three of the Bermuda 2016 FEI World Jumping Challenge under the watchful eyes of Judge Wendy Chapot Nunn from the USA. Unlike Day One and Two the horses and riders only had to complete One Round.
In Category A – The Aon Trophy Division Kirista Rabain riding Helsinki Van De Heffinck were crowned the winners, while Vicki Steele riding All In One captured Category C – The Central Carolina Trophy Division.
In Category A, Rabain and Helsinki Van De Heffinck duplicated their Day One & Two Performances going Clear in their Round. Rabain clocked a Clear Round time of 53.05, Philip Correia and Emerson finished second, the pair recorded 4 Penalty Fault Points in the Round with a time of 50.64.
As the only competitor in Category B, Carla Stempel riding Laredo was eliminated on the second day and did not compete on the third day so she did not complete the competition.
The new rule permitting a drop score is creating a lot of confusion, if Stempel had competed on the third day and completed both rounds then she could have dropped the elimination round and therefore would have registered a score.
Vicki Steele and All In One clocked a Clear Round time of 55.37, to win Category C, with Dale Rochester riding Carolina Gold finishing second after a Clear Rounds time of 60.01.
Bermuda will now wait for the full FEI results that will come out at a much later date when overall worldwide competition finished.
