It was yesterday www.islandstats.com reported Pan American Games Silver Medalist Venezuelan Show Jumper and Rio 2016 hopeful Andres Rodriguez has died at the age of 31 after a car crash in Florida.
Bermuda pair Jillian Terceira and Patrick Nisbett both competed against Rodriguez in the Horse Jump Event Finals at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
Nisbett who finished T16th said, “What a Sad / Tragic time. Andres (Chepito) was one of nicest / kindess people that I knew in the Show Jumping World. I have sent my condolences to some of his support team Carmen Barrera (Manager) and Eddie Macken (Trainer). I also sent my condolences to his long term Partner / New Wife Clementine, I especially feel for her as they had only been married approx. two months or so. Chepito will be truly missed. And will be a miss to the Venezuelan team at Rio this year of which he was qualified to go after his great performance at the Pan Am Games in Toronto. Life ...... You just never know !!!!”
