IslandStats.com
Bermuda’s junior horse riders were recently treated to complimentary instructional riding clinics by invited Canadian Trainer, Shane Pearson. As part of its ongoing goal to Develop its junior riders, the Bermuda Equestrian Federation (BEF) sponsored the free junior group clinics. Thirty-four junior riders between 7-17 years old participated in eleven junior group clinics held over two days. Juniors were placed together in various groups by their coaches to better facilitate the level of training. Juniors were asked to ride through exercises to work on both Flat and Jumping Techniques.

Pearson is part of the team at Stonewood Equestrian, one of the top training facilities in the Greater Toronto Area for Hunter/Jumper riders and young Horse Development. Pearson, a charismatic young professional who showed successfully as a junior and amateur rider in the Hunter, Jumper and Equitation Divisions before making the decision to pursue a career in the industry. He got his start working at CrossFields Farm under the mentorship of John & Mary Skey, and then worked under Olympic rider Chris Delia in his operation. Pearson remarked “I was honored to have been invited to teach such an amazing group of young people and will leave with how much the rest of the equestrian community could learn from a small island of riding enthusiasts. I was inspired to return to Canada with the Bermuda attitude that anything is possible.”
