Hurdle wearing number 12 IslandStats.com Ty Hurdle and his Queens University of Charlotte Men's Volleyball teammates picked up a 3-2 (23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 22-25, 15-12) win over IVA opponent Tusculum University on Saturday afternoon inside Curry Arena. Queens won for the fourth time in the last five matches and ran its conference winning streak to three after hitting .261 with seven service aces. Seniors Nic Cavallaro and Tristan Santoyo combined for 30 kills in the match, while Santoyo led all players with four service aces. Queens rebounded from a loss in the opening set to win sets two and three, hitting .321 across the two frames to take a 2-1 match lead. After Tusculum University evened the match at 2-all with a fourth-set win, Queens jumped out to a 7-3 lead early on in the fifth set to force a Tusculum timeout. Out of the break, Tusculum University closed the gap to a three-point deficit and got as close as two points before a service error ended the match in Queens favor. Cavallaro hit .393 on the outside and had nine digs on defense, while fellow senior JP Payne had six kills and hit .714 in the middle. Setter Daniel Leitao turned in a double-double with 42 assists and a career-high 16 digs.
