On Friday, June 9th, 2023, the Bermuda Pacers Track Club in conjunction with the Title Sponsor AIG will host the 14th Annual Schools’ Relay Classic at the National Sports Center starting at 5:30 pm.
This marks the seventh year that AIG has sponsored this exciting school event. The school will not only compete for bragging rights but for $3,900.00 to go towards their athletic program.
A total of 25 schools from all levels have registered for the event. This year’s event will also see the introduction of the government preschoolers in a 4 X 25-meter Relay, a senior school mixed 4 x 400-meter Relay with Boys and Girls competing together, and a Special Olympics 100-meter race for males and females.
The event starts at 5:30 pm with the Primary School teams competing in the 4 x 100-meter Semi-Finals. At 6:30 pm the exhibitions events that include the preschoolers, mix relays, and the Special Olympians will take to the track. At 7:00 pm the schools will again do battle in the 4 x 400 meter relays. These events are all timed finals.
The highlight of the evening will be the 4 x 100 finals. These events are scheduled to start at 8:00 pm. Many of the island’s Carifta athletes will be competing for their school. During this event, you will witness the top 8 schools at the primary, middle, and senior schools compete. Some 300 students/athletes from public and private schools will be involved.
Current Champions, Harrington Sound Primary, Sandy’s Secondary Middle School, and Cedarbridge Academy will be there to defend their titles, and admission to enter the event is free.
