Sakari Famous and her McNeese University Women’s track and Field teammates jumped six spots to No. 15 in this week's USTFCCCA South Central Region Poll.
McNeese is the highest-ranked Southland Conference team in the regional poll and the second-highest in the national poll where they jumped 41 spots to No. 113, trailing only HBU (78).
McNeese has a total of 74 athletes ranked in the top 10 in the Southland Conference in their respective events including eight individuals and two relay teams at No. 1 – Dreunna Washington (women's 200m and long jump), Famous (women's high jump), Blanche Beard (women's javelin), Aurelia Jepkorir (women's 5000m), Janell Fullerton (women's shot put), women's 4x100 relay, men's 4x400 relay.
Famous is No. 16 in the nation in the Women’s High Jump after her Bermuda and school record 5-11.5 mark this past weekend at the SFA Carl Kight Invitational.
