What a difference a week and a sport makes, one week after the National Sports Center hosted four days of the National Swimming Championships, the National Track and Field Championships began at the same location.
Za'kayza Parsons won the Under 17 Girls 100 Meter Dash with a time of 12.38, Massassi Maxwell-Smith was second in 13.65.
The Men’s 100 Meter Dash Open saw Kyle Webb clock a winning time of 10.95, Stephan Dill was second in 11.05 and Kidane Callendar finished third stopping the clock in a time of 11.58.
The Bermuda Pacers Track Club team of Nirobi Smith-Mills, Sancho Smith, Johndell Cumberbatch and Kahzi Sealey set a new Bermuda Record on their way to winning the Under 17 Men’s 4x800 Meter Relay with a time of 8:12.43, Team AAU finished second clocking 8:44.42.
Tiara DeRosa also set a new Bermuda Record on her way to winning the Women’s Shot Put Open with a toss of 13.89 or 45 feet 7 inches, DeRosa’s toss broke the previous record held by Sonya Smith which had stood for 34 years.
Grant Rivers won the Men’s Javelin Throw Open with a top toss of 51.51m or 169 feet.
