Freshman Tiara Derosa of the Shaw University Women's Outdoor Track & field team finished 5th the Women's Discus as Shaw University completed the 49er Classic at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex for its season opener.
In her season debut, Derosa earned the fifth place finish with a throw of 38.65 meters amongst both Division I and II institutions, she now leads the CIAA Conference. Edinboro's Gabby Schultz won the event with a throw of 44.25 meters.
Derosa also competed in the Women’s Shot Put, she would finish 17th with a top toss of 11.56m.
With her toss in the Discus Derosa meets the Carifta Games 2017 Standard, however she was only 0.34m off the Carifta Games Qualifying Standard for the Shot Put.
