Richardson has leaped a Personal Best of 11.68m in the Triple Jump, Richardson is also a Long Jumper and has leaped a Personal Best 5.03m.

Outside of Track and Field, Richardson enjoys debating, which she has been doing since she was 9. She has won numerous debate competitions including the 2010 Bermuda Health Financing Summit Debate, which featured 6 of Bermuda’s top debaters.

In February 2011, she traveled to California and competed in the Pan Am Debate competition, where she captained her team.

Her favorite athlete is Bermuda’s own Nicky Saunders, after hearing numerous stories from her coach Jerry Swan about how he always persevered through all circumstances to achieve his goals. His achievements are an assurance that although we may live on such a small island, we are not confined to it. There is a world of opportunity awaiting us and success at any level can be achieved.

Richardson, who attends Cedarbridge Academy, has always been on the honor roll or had principal’s honors. Her favorite subject is Business because it allows her to have a clear understanding of the world’s controlling factor. She feels that it is interesting and can be very stimulating.

In March of this year Richardson, won the Female Sports Award during the 29 Annual Bermuda Outstanding Teen Service Awards.

During the Carfita Games at the National Sports Center, an emotional Akeila Richardson finished 4th with a leap of 11.00m in the Girls Under 20 Triple Jump.
