Wade-Fray's Numbers & Speaks on Win

IslandStats.com
Top-class players usually step up when it matters most, and 2012 Olympian, Jenaya Wade-Fray did just that with a big-time performance to lead Brixton Topcats into the Play-Offs.

As www.islandstats.com reported on Sunday, Wade-Fray netted 30 points as the Topcats defeated Manchester Mystics 69-61 in a game that decided the final spot in the WBBL post-season. The 27-year-old was quick to praise her team-mates for their efforts in the crucial encounter.

Wade-Fray went 4 for 6 from the Field, 5 for 14 from the behind the Three Point Line and 7 for 8 from the Free Throw Line in 36 minutes of action. Wade-Fray also grabbed 4 rebounds, she had 1 Assist and 2 Steals.

'I'm very pleased with the win - it was a big game for us, everything was on the line and I am so proud of my team-mates for the way we all showed up to play today,' she declared.

'Personally, I am not much of a talker so I always try to lead by example.

'I try to do whatever I can to help my team win - whether it is scoring, rebounding or defense. I just happened to have a really good game offensively and that helped us to get the win.

'Both games against Manchester, I've played pretty well - I think they bring me luck.'

The Topcats make their first venture into the WBBL Playoffs having missed out in the inaugural 2014-15 season, and they will take on the league champions, Nottingham Wildcats next week.

And, Wade-Fray believes her side can take plenty of confidence into their Quarter-Final clash.

'I think this win gives the whole team a confidence boost,' she said.

'We have believed in ourselves from the start, but it gets hard just hearing how we 'almost got the win' or 'we should have won that game'.

'So finally actually getting another win definitely gives us confidence.

'And I think that it is very good timing for us leading into the Play-Offs and hopefully we will be able to make some noise as our Coach likes to put it.'
