BBYF Basketball March Madness All-Star

IslandStats.com
The Bermuda Basketball Youth Federation (BBYF) held its 1st annual March Madness All-Star event as a fundraiser for its Youth National teams. Top basketball players from Primary Schools up to Senior High Schools competed in four various competitions to find out who was at the top of their game.

All of the funds raised for the event are going toward the Youth National teams who travel to represent Bermuda each year. This year the teams will be traveling for their fifth year in a row with the Girls 18 and Under team traveling next month, April 21st to April 26th to the Blue Chip Pre-Season Challenge powered by Under Armour. This is an NCAA Certified Event held at Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, PA. It is One of the largest exposure tournaments in the US with over 200 colleges coaches attending annually.

The All-Star Saturday event consisted of four competitions:

The Skills Challenge – Players compete against time to dribble through a series of cones before making a pass and a shot.

The 3 Point Contest – Players must make shots from around the three point line

The Dunk Contest – Players compete on the slam dunk based on difficulty and creativity

King of the Court – One on One Tournament. This is a one on one competition to find out who the best player is in their age group.

The aggregate winner of all combined challenges was named Mr. or Ms. Basketball of Bermuda, a title that they will hold until next years’ competition. This title is given to the top player on aggregate scoring for all four competitions. With the title, these four players received a few additional prizes, along with free admission to Wolfpack Elite Summer Camp 2016.
