Sevenoaks Suns are celebrating a pulsating 74-65 victory in the Betty Codona Classic Plate Final after they came from behind to pip their derby rivals, Brixton Topcats who were led by Bermuda’s Jenaya Wade-Fray.
In a game dripping with British talent and permeated by a couple of class players from USA and Spain in Cat Carr and Beatriz Royo-Torres, it was pulsating viewing for those present.
Brixton had built a 27 – 18 lead at the end of the first quarter, they were then outscored by Sevenoaks 18 – 15 to hold a 42 – 36 lead at the half.
Brixton at the end of the third quarter led by five 60 – 55, but they were outscored 19 – 5 in the final quarter to go down.
Carr led Sevenoaks Suns with 23 points, while Royo-Torres added 20 points, the Brixton Topcats top scorer was Wade-Fray with 20 points.
