Another night of Basketball action in the CellOne Island Basketball League inside the Cedarbridge Academy Gymnasium produced 2155 points on the night.

In the first game saw the Twisters remain undefeated and going to a record of 7-0 on the season by defeating the now 2-5 Skyforce 65 – 49. Kevin Stephens scored 16 points for Twisters to lead them to victory, while Roushon Tankard scored 16 points for Skyforce.

In the second game of the evening, the defending champions Thunder Cats defeated the winless Hoopstars 59 - 42 and improved to a 5-2 record, while Hoopstars remain winless at 0-7. Rye Ahronson scored 16 points to lead the Thunder Cats to victory, while Yontz Sutton scored 16 for the Hoopstars.

JENAYA WADE-FRAY

The Barking Abbey Crusaders held off a spirited challenge from Jenaya Wade-Fray and her Brixton Topcats Women’s Basketball teammates to claim a 61-53 victory away from home.

Barking Abbey pulled away in the second half and twice withheld late rallies from the home side to move joint third alongside Sevenoaks Suns on a 2-1 record.

Wade-Fray led Brixton with a game-high of 18 points, while Vanessa Da Silva posted a big double-double after grabbing 16 rebounds along with her 12 points as Brixton suffer their second league loss.

Three players top scored for Barking Abbey with 11 points as Savannah Wilkinson also collected eight rebounds, Diana Naydenova-Goryanova dished out six assists and added four boards, while Zoe Willis shot 3-of-4 from 3-point range in an impactful 13-minute display from the bench.

There was nothing to split the two sides in the early stages with just five field goals between them in a defensively-minded opening quarter. The game was still tied at 13 in the second before the visitors scored seven points in a row to give them the edge at half-time.

Barking Abbey came out firing in the second half and opened up a double-digit advantage thanks to eight straight points from Willis to cap a 14-2 run. Brixton continued to battle away and closed the third period with the final eight points to cut the gap to six points.

Another strong start for Barking Abbey saw them move ahead by 16 points on another triple from Willis midway through the final quarter. Brixton again managed to close within six, but had too much to do as their late rally fell short.
