Bermuda Go Down to Antigua in CBC Championships

IslandStats.com
If one thing has been demonstrated at the 2015 Caribbean Basketball Confederation Men’s Championships, it’s that no lead is safe. After several comebacks and near-comebacks, Bermuda nearly pulled off another miracle, getting to within four of Antigua and Barbuda late in the fourth quarter after trailing by 19 in the third, before ultimately falling 71-64 at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, Tortola, to wind up preliminary round play for both teams.

Antigua jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first, and although Bermuda came back to tie it at ten, Antigua steadily pulled away throughout the course of the game, leading 16-10 after the first quarter, 33-23 at halftime, and 55-44 after the third.

Antigua led by 19 in the third with 2:31 to play, but an 8-0 run by Bermuda to finish the quarter kept them within striking distance.

A floater by TeJour Riley at the 7:05 mark of the fourth capped off an overall 16-0 run by Bermuda, and got them to within three at 55-52. Antigua promptly stretched the lead back to eleven, 64-53, with 2:39 to play.

Bermuda had one more run in them, however. A Jason Lowe three-pointer with 31.8 seconds remaining brought Bermuda to within four at 68-64, but Antigua’s free-throw shooting over the final half-minute iced the game.

Chris Crumpler led Bermuda with 15 points going 5 for 21 from the Field that included 3 for 12 from behind the three point line, he grabbed 6 Rebounds, he had 3 Assist and 2 Steals, while playing 31:25 of the game.

Sulliva Phillips played more than 37 minutes of the game, going 5 for 14 from the Field for his 13 points, Phillips grabbed 7 Rebounds, he had 4 Assist and 3 Steals.

Jason Lowe scored 11 points, while Jonathan Lowe added 10 points and TeJour Riley scored 9 points.

Antigua advances to the semi-finals with a 3-1 preliminary round record, while Bermuda (2-2) awaits to see whom they will play based on the results of today’s games.
