The Three Times NatWest Island Games Defending Basketball Champions Bermuda are currently struggling to have their strongest team represent the Country not only at the Games but also at an upcoming Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
The Bermuda National Basketball team are set to play in the Caribbean Basketball Championships, as an Olympic Qualifier and then they will head to Jersey to defend their Title and look for another Gold Medal.
Co-Captain Steven Simons said, “It is difficult at this time as the team is aging and players have so many other commitments and we have youngsters who are abroad in school and to ask people to pay out of pocket to represent the Country is kind of crazy.”
“If we are able to have our strongest team on both trips, we should advance to the next stage of the Olympic Qualifiers and we should win the Gold Medal again, however we know what some of the players are up against,” continued Simons.
