A Bermuda 14 & Under Girls Select Basketball team took on Villa Maria Academy in Canada.
The Bermuda team coach Tim Trott said, “The starters played lethargic which prompted the bench to see more playing time in the first half. Offensively, the team still couldn't capitalize on shots close to the goal, but it was the lack of defensive intensity and effort.”
The halftime score saw Villa Maria leading 24 – 8.
Trott said, “A better effort was seen from the starters in the second half, they were able to cut lead to 6 early in the 4th quarter, but unable to get over the hump due to inconsistent play on both ends of the court, as Villa Maria defeated Team Bermuda 38 – 26.
Inshan-nae Smith led the Bermuda team with 6 points, while Zariah Amory added 5 points, the Bermuda Team player of the game was Ember Butterfield who sacrificed her offense to defend one of the other teams bigger and better players, while an honorable mention would go to Jade Stewart for her effort as well.
