Marshall opened the contest without a field goal until 14:12 remaining in the first half, when a Dickens jumper cut Tulane’s lead to 10-7. The game’s first six minutes saw 10 fouls between the two teams. Dickens went on to score back-to-back field goals, giving Marshall an 11-10 lead at the 12-minute mark. At that point, she had contributed 10 of Marshall’s 11 points. Tulane quickly took back its lead, 12-11, and kept rolling to go up by as many as 15 with 6:39 until the break. However, Marshall fought back with a 14-to-2 run over the final five minutes of the half, with eight points contributed by junior Leah Scott, to knot the score at 35. Tiffany Dale sunk a jumper with five seconds remaining to give Tulane a 37-35 lead at the break. Marshall tied it up again, 37-37, at the 18:09 out of halftime on a Norrisha Victrum layup, and then a Dickens three-pointer gave Marshall its first and only lead of the second half, 40-37, at 15:50. It could not hold as Tulane’s Danielle Blagg hit a three to even things up at 42-42 a minute later, at 14:46. Marshall would fall behind as Tulane went on a 17-to-8 run over 8:24 to lead 59-50 with 6:22 to play. Tulane found a double-digit lead of 11 at 3:28 on another Blagg three-pointer, and finished the game on an 11-to-6 run. Scott converted a layup at the buzzer to end the game at 77-61, with Tulane on top. Struggles in the paint limited Marshall to 33 rebounds and 26 points, while Tulane had 47 boards and 37 points in the lane. Tulane also converted 13 second chance points off 13 offensive rebounds, while Marshall put up only four points off seven offensive boards. Dale ended the game as Tulane’s high scorer and rebounder, with 18 and 12, respectively. Besides Dickens, two other Marshall players found double digits with Scott’s 19 and Victrum’s 11. Victrum has contributed double-digits in the scoring column in six of Marshall’s last seven outings.
