As Jenaya Wade-Fray and the Standard Life Great Britain Women’s Basketball players head into their training camp at Surrey Sports Park this weekend to begin their Olympic preparations, Julie Page, Jo Leedham and Lauren Thomas-Johnson tell us how they are feeling at the start of this monumental summer campaign.
Page said, "We have been preparing for this moment for almost a year now, and to have the time finally arrive is beyond words. I can't wait to be back on the court at Surrey Sports Park with the GB girls and coaching staff. For us to be together for the next 3 months, physically and mentally competing with each other every day, and supporting each other through what will be a challenging preparation period, is such an amazing driving force for us to be able to make our nation proud. This is a very exciting time for basketball in Great Britain! Join us on our road to London 2012."
Leedham said, "I'm so excited for camp and to get started. To the fans that have been with us all through our campaign, we very much appreciate it and hope to see your continued support, and to all other new fans out there we hope to inspire and excite you all with the events coming this summer, and hope you jump on board to support us as well."
Thomas-Johnson said, "I am excited and nervous going into camp, it feels like we have all been waiting so long for this time to come as it is finally here. After coming off winning a championship with the Sheffield Hatter I'm going into camp on a high ready to work hard. To the fans I would just have to say get ready, this team is hungry and ready to go out there win. Watch this space."
