Jenaya Wade-Fray and her UWIC Archers team came away with a 34 point win over Northumbria 81 - 47 in Women’s English Division One action.
However the victory came at a big price, Damian Jennings from UWIC said, “Well, I don’t think I have been with a team with so many hits in 72 hours. With news of Frankie Whitby breaking her finger, followed 8 hours later with Stef Collins cutting her hand and requiring stitches to then breakdown twice, turning a 5 hour journey north into an 11hr trip taking us to Birmingham to then to have to go back to Cardiff before then setting off once again for Newcastle it certainly tested the patience and focus of our group.”
“Unfortunately the hits didn’t stop as Rose Anderson limped off after 15 minutes damaging her other ankle,” continued Jennings.
Jenning concluded, “Collins and Anderson will return I’m sure of that but I really feel for Whitby and I want to wish her the best in her recovery as she will miss out on the BUCS Finals and the Play-Off’s in a season where she has improved her most and deservedly pushed herself into a 6th-8th rotation in this deep roster. The next few weeks are going to be a stiff test of our teams depth, resilience and just how much the group on the floor representing the Archers want to succeed.”
