Jenaya Wade-Fray and her UWIC Archers teammates defeated Leeds Carnegie 89 – 56 in English Women’s Division 1 Basketball action.
Wade-Fray and her teammates are the current League Leaders with a 13 – 1 record.
The teams had met once before this season and UWIC came out on top with a comfortable 87-59 in the early weeks of the season.
Since then UWIC have had mostly smooth sailing this season, suffering just two defeats - both to Sheffield, one in the league and one in the cup final.
UWIC coach Damian Jennings said, “We were a little disappointed with how we played, although we are pleased to have closed the game out in the manner in which we did over the last few minutes. Our transition game did not really click and this prevented the sync we use to feed much of the rest of our game.”
“We certainly recognize the importance of a solid performance in our last home game of 3 against Leeds next week,” concluded Jennings.
