Bermuda Record Second Win in Barbados

Bermuda played their second match in the Caribbean Netball Association’s Jean Pierre Tournament in Barbados recording a 31 – 29 win over St Lucia.

St. Lucia won the toss which put Bermuda on the defense from the start of play. Bermuda applied their hard court press which made St. Lucia very uncomfortable forcing several turnovers in the first quarter ending it 10-5 to Bermuda.

The second quarter started slowly with Bermuda looking a bit fatigue after the umpires seemed to have made a few dubious calls against them, allowing St. Lucia to outscore them in the second quarter, however when the teams went to the break Bermuda held a 17 – 13 lead.

St.Lucia continued pressing with Bermuda still trying to recovery from the heat. St.Lucia resorted to long passes into the circle which Bermuda were able to capitalize on making several defensive interceptions. Inshan-nae Smith was extremely instrumental in stifling the St. Lucia attack, however Bermuda were still out scored that quarter 7 to 5, with Bermuda only taking a 2 goal lead into the end of the third quarter 22-20.

After a stern talking to about maintaining possession and scoring on their center passes Bermuda finally looked to settle down and play their game. Finishing the match with another victory 31 to 29 matching their opponents goal for goal in the final quarter.

Bermuda were led by Donnauri Robinson with 19 goals, while Zekiah Lewis added 12 goals.
