Distance runner Elizabeth Hirsch of Melrose, Mass., registered a Silver-Medal finish, as Brianna Mendes and her McGill University Women's Cross-Country teammates captured the RSEQ Conference Championship Meet, held on the Plains of Abraham.
It marked the team's first league banner since 2016 and 31st Quebec title in 40 years, since the inaugural season in 1980.
Mendes, a third-year management junior, finished in 9th place overall with a time of 31:01.
The McGill women led all eight teams with 41 points, based on scoring second, fourth, eighth, ninth and 18th. They edged out the Montreal Carabins (44) by only three points. Rounding out the leader board was Laval in third with 50, followed by UQTR (123), Sherbrooke (128), UQAC (196), UQAM (202) and Concordia (219).
