Quinnae Outerbridge’s Hartford Cross Country Head Coach Stacie Wentz has announced the schedule for the upcoming Men's and Women's 2018 season. Hartford will compete in five meets prior to the America East Championships, which will be hosted by UMass Lowell and held at Nashua South High School.
"We've changed the schedule a bit to provide more well-rounded competition for our teams this year," Wentz said about the 2018 slate.
Hartford open their 2018 campaign with three meets in September, starting with the Dartmouth Southern Invitational on Saturday, September 8th.
"The race at Dartmouth College is on their golf course so it will provide a great first opening meet for us this year," commented Wentz. "It should provide great footing for fast opening times and a good opportunity to see where we are at in our training."
Hartford will continue its 2018 slate by heading to New York City for the Iona Br. "Paddy" Meet of Champions. Held on Saturday, September 15th, the race will take place in the Bronx at the historic Van Cortland Park.
"Our roster is filled with athletes from New Jersey and New York who have had many opportunities to race there in high school," said Wentz. "It will be a great opportunity to get our athletes back on a familiar course."
The month of September will wrap up with the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., on Saturday, September 29th.
"Competing at this meet will be a highlight of our schedule," commented Wentz. "We will again see many of the top NCAA Division I teams in the country while giving us the opportunity to see how we compete with teams outside of our region."
Hartford's October slate will bring the Hawks to Boston, Mass., to compete in the highly competitive New England Championships, held at Franklin Park on Saturday, October 6th. Hartford will then have a 12-day hiatus before returning to action at the CCSU Mini Meet for one final tune up before the America East Championship meet. Held at Stanley Park in New Britain Conn., the CCSU Mini Meet will be held on Friday, October 19th.
Championship season will take off with the America East Championships held on October 27th, in Nashua, N.H. Hartford will then head to the NCAA East Regional Championships in Amherst, N.Y., on Saturday, November 10th.
