IslandStats.com
Excuses no more as Government House and The Cabinet Office today advised that the deadline to nominate members of the community for Her Majesty the Queen’s Honours is approaching.

Every year people complain when someone of their choice is not given the honor of being recognized, so this is your opportunity to make things right.

The deadline to submit nominations for Honours for Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday 2017 is Friday, November 4th, 2016 at 5:00pm.

Wednesday, November 30th 2016 at 5:00pm is the deadline for the Queen’s Certificate and Badge of Honour nominations for New Year 2017

Honours are awarded to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to public life or committed themselves to serving and helping Bermuda over a sustained period of time. Where possible, nominations should be for those who are still active in their chosen activity, have recently retired or who have had a recent notable achievement.

Honours are awarded twice a year, on New Year’s Day and in June, to mark the Queen’s Birthday.

Anyone can put forward a nomination. Typical categories and achievements include:

• Making a difference to their community or field of work;

• Enhancing Bermuda’s reputation;

• Long-term voluntary service;

• Innovation and entrepreneurship;

• Changing things, with an emphasis on achievement;

• Improving life for people less able to help themselves;

• Displaying moral courage and doing difficult things.

Honours are given to people involved in different activities, including:

• Community, voluntary and local services

• Arts and media

• Health

• Sport

• Education

• Science and technology

• Business and the economy

• Civil or political service

Both nomination forms can be downloaded from www.gov.bm/governor-bermuda

Completed forms should be sent to:

The Cabinet Office
Innovation House, 1st Floor
46 Reid Street
Hamilton HM 12

Note:

Honours nominations will be accepted at any time throughout the year.

Those who nominate an individual they consider worthy of an Honour are requested not to advise the individual or discuss the matter with them.
